ABOUT US
The
Moorlanders MCC is best known for its annual Egg Run, held each Easter
Sunday and starting from Davidstow Airfield, near Camelford, North
Cornwall. This is our main charity event of the year, and it
attracts around 500 bikers to bring along Easter eggs and a donation
for local special needs charities. Over the years, the Moorlanders Egg Run has raised around £40,000, with the 2018 event collecting over £4,500.
The Egg Runs started in 1997, when the founder members gathered on Davidstow Airfield, collected chocolate eggs and rode to a local children's home. Subsequent Egg Runs attracted greater numbers, and collected donations for the children's charities.
The bond developed through meeting to organise the event, and the need for an organised body to gain public liability insurance lead to Moorlanders
MCC being formed in 2001. The Club has been through highs and
lows
in member numbers. We currently have a small but active
group,
and are seeking new members with fresh ideas and enthusiasm to
build the Club.
We meet on the 3rd Saturday of
each month, around 7 pm at the Kings Head, Altarnun, just
off the A30. Other weekends we meet for social get-togethers, but
mainly we like to make the most of our beautiful
area, and we organise ride-outs and attend local events.
Please contact us before coming along to find out what we're up
to.
You can see what we're planning for the year by looking at our Calendar.
We keep active during the winter months, still meeting at least twice a
month for socials. We have an annual Bowling competition, dodgems night and, of course, planning
meetings for the Egg Run, oops, not forgetting the Christmas party too!
