Started in 1997, the purpose of the event is to distribute
Easter Eggs to people in special needs care in the local community, and to raise much
funds for children’s charities in Cornwall through contributions by each rider taking part. The Egg Run has been held annually on Easter Sunday, except for the year of the Foot & Mouth outbreak.
In return for the entry charge and Easter Eggs donated, the participating riders received a souvenir key ring and enjoyed a marshalled tour of our local patch. The route is not made public before the event, but marshalled at every road junction or major course deviation. Riders are also given a meal voucher, which they exchange for a free burger at the end event, kindly hosted by Bowden Derra Park, Polyphant for the last five years.
We hold a raffle on the day, and present Awards with trophies in a range of categories. We also raise money by a second raffle draw and by corporate sponsorship. We are extremely grateful to the local businesses and motorcycle traders for kindly donating prizes, and to the continued generosity of our corporate sponsors.
